Vice Principal

Plymouth College of Art is widely regarded as a dynamic, innovative community of creative learning and practice in art, craft, design and media: one of a small number of independent art schools remaining in the UK’s HE sector. Nationally and internationally recognised for innovation across the full continuum of creative education, the College also maintains a strong commitment to its pre-degree provision and has founded the Plymouth School of Creative Arts at The Red House – a catalyst for pedagogical innovation and social transformation in inner-city Plymouth. Following a period of significant growth and purposeful development of its HE curriculum and external profile, PCA is now fostering international partnership and a vibrant culture of scholarship and research, and has applied for Taught Degree-Awarding Powers.

A new position as Vice Principal, reporting directly to the Principal & Chief Executive, Professor Andrew Brewerton, has been created to lead scholarship, research, pedagogical and curriculum development within the ambitious and collegial senior leadership team that is shaping and delivering the next phase of the College’s development.

The appointee will be a creative leader with a strong track record of innovation and leading teams in research and scholarship, with a background in a discipline relevant or allied to the College. Experience of delivering cultural change, fostering quality enhancement in an HE environment and of initiating and developing relevant external relationships and partnerships is key. Applications are invited from candidates with a strong background in HE art, design and media and/or professional practice in the creative industries.
