Head of Further Education

Hereford College of Arts is a vibrant, dedicated arts college with a specialist focus on art, media, design, popular music and performing arts. The curriculum includes undergraduate and postgraduate degrees alongside a range of Further Education programmes and a wide ranging short course programme.  Our mission is to empower creativity and enrich our world through transformative arts education.   We are proud of our track record but have ambitious plans to develop and grow.  Hereford city and the wider region are also full of ambition with a new engineering university in development and a dynamic bid for UK City of Culture 2021 galvanising new creative collaboration across the region.   At the same time a number of changes in policy and wider social changes are also having a major impact on the worlds of Higher and Further education.   At this exciting period of new opportunities and challenges for Hereford College of Arts we are creating this new role to ensure the college has dedicated leadership and focus on Further Education within the senior team, reporting directly to the Principal.

As Head of Further Education you will provide inspirational leadership across the FE provision whilst ensuring it remains fully integrated into the college as a whole.  You will ensure excellent management and development of academic staff across FE promoting the college mission, vision and values and a culture of confidence, understanding and support for what it takes to be outstanding in every way.   You will oversee all aspects of curriculum development, learning and teaching, and assessment and quality assurance, to ensure the very best outcomes for our students.  You will identify new opportunities for financially viable curriculum development to meet learners’ needs locally, nationally and even internationally and play a leading role in the development and delivery of recruitment strategies. You will build external partnerships with businesses and other organisations to further college strategic objectives and benefit students and staff.

As a member of the Senior Leadership Team you will also have an important contribution to make to the overall strategic leadership of the college and will promote collaboration, alignment and efficiency across our FE and HE provision to benefit students, and ensure the college is greater than the sum of its parts.
