We have an opportunity for a reliable, self-motivated and responsible individual to join our farm team. The ideal candidate will have a track record of rearing dairy and beef replacements to a high standard, experience of diagnosing symptoms of calf diseases and preventative management. The candidate with be expected to take responsibility for day old calves until animals join the dairy herd.

The farm has recently invested in a purpose-built facility for rearing calves from birth through to weaning. It is expected that this system will be fully utilised to maintain quality replacements for the college dairy herd. The new unit has a handling system with EID weighing and recording to ensure that routine tasks are made simple. As well as rearing dairy replacements, the candidate will be expected to rear, grow and fatten 120 -150 Aberdeen Angus cross calves, gathering data weekly on all aspects of their production. Data from all groups of animals is to be reported to farm manager weekly to allow constant monitoring of the rearing systems, and so proven record-keeping skills will be expected.
