Leeds College of Art has played a central role in providing specialist education in art, design and the crafts for 170 years and has developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students. This is an exciting and dynamic time in the College’s strategic development. The Privy Council recently granted the College Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP) and we are now working towards becoming the first specialist arts university in the North.

A vacancy has arisen for a Lecturer to teach on our highly successful Foundation course, teaching general visual language in the introductory stage of this one-year course and then teaching within the course’s MAGPi (Moving Image, Advertising, Graphics, Photography, Illustration) specialist pathway under the direction of the Pathway Leader. There will also be administrative responsibilities in addition to teaching. The work is based at our city centre site.

The MAGPi pathway deals with students who are interested in applying for degree courses in film, animation, graphic design, visual communication, illustration, games design, photography and creative advertising. A strong interest in contemporary visual communication and a knowledge of both hand made and digital processes and materials will be essential to the role.

The successful candidate will have a relevant degree, a teaching qualification, and have excellent teaching, interpersonal and organisational skills. You will have professional experience within one or more of the disciplines covered by the MAGPi Pathway. You must also be able to demonstrate your competence to teach with enthusiasm and inspire learners and also your ability to fit in with our organisational values and ethos. Experience of teaching in the FE sector is desirable.
