Leeds College of Art has played a central role in providing specialist education in art, design and the crafts for 170 years and has developed a national and international reputation based on the achievements of our students. This is an exciting and dynamic time in the College’s strategic development. The Privy Council recently granted the College Taught Degree Awarding Powers (TDAP) and we are now working towards becoming the first specialist arts university in the North.
We have two main sites in Leeds city centre with campus at Blenheim Walk and the original College of Art building at Vernon Street. We are one of only a few specialist art institutions in the country.
A vacancy has arisen for a Pathway Leader for the Fine Art pathway on the Extended Diploma. The duties of the post include planning, assessment and delivery of YR2 Fine Art together with Year 1 diagnostic and specialist Fine Art units. There will also be administrative responsibilities in addition to teaching.
The Fine Art area deals predominantly with students who are interested in applying for degree courses in Fine Art, Film, Photography and Sculpture. The successful candidate will be responsible for the line management of staff and the curriculum management and strategic development of this pathway areas. The post holder may, on an annual basis, in addition act as pathway leader for a discipline subset of art and design (for example 3D) according to student recruitment profile.
Applicants should have a degree in a related subject, a teaching qualification and experience of teaching on both diagnostic and specialist Fine Art programmes; demonstrable technical appreciation of processes and equipment relevant to the pathway, and a clear understanding of the administrative duties required to support the management of the course, teaching and learning and the staff team including the UCAS process.
Full details of the essential and desirable criteria for this role can be found in the job description.
