Leeds College of Art has played a central role in providing education in art and design for 170 years. Having secured its own taught degree awarding powers the College is in the process of gaining University title and will be the first specialist arts university in the north of England.
BA (Hon) Graphic Design has a focus on the studio, a creative space with an innovative and engaging atmosphere. Students benefit immediately from exposure to the structures and disciplines of a studio environment, learning how individual and collaborative creativity combine to produce exceptional work.
You will primarily teach level 4 students, with some teaching at level 5 and 6, acting as Module Leader for a number of modules, and Year Tutor. You will also need the skills or connections to build links with appropriate organisations to facilitate work experience, and visits where appropriate to the curriculum. Working individually and as a member of a team you will be expected to deliver teaching and dissertation support (for level 6 students), within a variety of settings including individual tutorials, seminars, workshops, and lectures with large audiences.
The successful candidate will hold a Masters degree in a relevant subject, have extensive knowledge and expertise as a contemporary practitioner in Graphic Design, and experience of teaching undergraduate students. Knowledge and/or experience of Graphic Design in an international context and a Doctorate or studying towards one would be desirable.
