Job purpose

You will be required to teach and assess engineering course work in levels 2 - 4.

Roles and responsibility

  • Assess, guide and support students using a variety of methods to maximise learner potential. Work with students and teaching delivery team, to ensure that the curriculum is fully compliant with all relevant awarding bodies;
  • Plan and co-ordinate the personalised learning plans and routes and destinations for each of their students;
  • Enable learner achievement within specified guidelines in line with SFA audit requirements and work-based competence (QCF) codes of practice;

Person specification

  • A degree or equivalent engineering qualified lecturer who has experience delivering Industry standard engineering  programmes and Apprenticeships ranging from level 2 to level 4;
  • Experience of teaching BTEC and HNC/D diploma levels 2, 3 & 4 in  electrical/electronic engineering, pneumatic and hydraulic systems and devices; communications for engineering technicians; CNC, instrumentation and control; further mathematics and further mechanical principles;
  • A qualified assessor with level 3 NVQ RQF certificate in assessing vocational achievement (formerly the A1 award) who has experience of assessing on/off site activities relating to apprenticeship frameworks;
  • A qualified quality assurer with level 4 NVQ RQF internal quality assurer award (formerly the V1 internal verifier’s qualification) who has experience of assuring the quality of on/off site assessment activities relating to apprenticeships and full time learners;
  • An experienced lecturer with an outstanding track record and qualified to DTLLs / certificate in education level. With a level 2 literacy and numeracy or GCSE maths and English grade C or above qualification;
  • An understanding of safeguarding, equality and diversity, health and safety and child protection legislation as it impacts on learning;
  • A strong team player who engages in team communications to ensure that all elements of student progress are effectively monitored and co-ordinated by the team;
  • Organised flexible individual who prioritises tasks and manages their time efficiently.
