Senior Communication Support Worker (BSL)

Hours: Various hours

Weeks: Term time only, 40 weeks per year

We are excited to announce that we are recruiting for a Senior Communication Support Worker to join our dedicated, growing team within the Inclusion Department here at The Heart of Yorkshire Education Group. This is a specialist and varied role where you will contribute to the provision of an outstanding additional support service for D/deaf learners.

As a Senior Communication Support Worker, you will provide appropriate non-teaching support to our D/deaf learners both within and outside the curriculum, provide D/deaf Awareness training and guidance to senior staff, teaching staff and support staff and assist with timetabling and coordination of members of the BSL team.

You should have previous experience of working as an interpreter/communicator for D/deaf BSL users and be qualified or working towards Level 6 in BSL. You should have good skills working from BSL into English/English into BSL and the ability to work between written text and BSL as well as the ability to take notes for learners.
