We have some of the best university facilities in the UK and achieve outstanding results for our teaching and research and have been awarded Gold in the prestigious Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) 2023 - making it one of the top universities in the country recognised for its outstanding student experience and student outcomes.

Financially strong and seriously ambitious we offer our employees an inclusive culture that centres itself around staff wellbeing, where you can be confident you will receive all the help and encouragement you need to build a rewarding career with lots of opportunities to enhance your skills.

About the role

Buxton and Leek College is part of the University of Derby and is graded as a "Good" college by OFSTED and has a team of dedicated staff who take pride in supporting learners towards their study and career goals. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our team on our journey to becoming an outstanding provider.

The Foundation Pathways Programme is the foundation year with a difference. If students have been out of education for a while, it gives them the opportunity to build up their knowledge base and skills.

Students have the chance to develop their study skills and three other modules to prepare you for undergraduate study. They are also able to work on their Maths and English skills in readiness for level 4 study.

Students will study on routes depending on their choice of degree/progression route. As well as improving their language and numeracy skills, they will develop confidence in writing essays and reports, undertaking research, analysing numbers, doing presentations, managing their time and working as part of a team. Each pathway is relevant to a discipline of study, which students choose based on what degree they want to progress on to.

We are a successful team looking to recruit an individual to teach on our course teaching level 3 Business at the Kedleston Road campus. Our tutors are supportive and encouraging, and  help students achieve their career aspirations. The position is for a lecturer who can teach two classes on a Wednesday.

You will need to demonstrable evidence of ability to engage with learners to support high quality learning outcomes and evidence experience of teaching/facilitating level 3 Business to adults. You will hold or be willing to undertake a Level 3 teaching qualification e.g. Certificate in Education. Applicants are expected to have level 2 Qualifications (either in Functional Skills or GCSE A-C) in both English and maths or a willingness to achieve within an agreed timescale

Actual hours and days will be described in a ‘Schedule of Work’.
