Engineering Lecturer (Mechanical)

Teaching or assessing experience is desirable, but we are open to applications from candidates with industry knowledge and experience who are looking to explore a career in education. Scope and Purpose of the Role: As a Lecturer in Mechanical Engineering, you will be responsible for teaching and assessing students across a range of programmes, including apprenticeships, further education, and work-based learning. You will play a key role in curriculum development, ensuring the effective delivery of courses and supporting students to achieve their full potential.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:

  • Teaching and Assessment: Deliver engaging lessons and assess student progress, ensuring learning goals are met.
  • Curriculum Development: Develop learning materials and contribute to the continuous improvement of the curriculum.
  • Student Support: Provide guidance and support to students, helping them to overcome challenges and succeed in their studies.
  • Quality Assurance: Participate in course verification and quality assurance processes to maintain high standards.
  • Programme Management: Coordinate courses and manage the day-to-day running of programmes, including timetabling and student administration.
  • Professional Development: Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated in your specialist area.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications: Relevant professional technical qualification at a minimum of Level 3, and a teaching qualification (or willingness to achieve one within the first 6 months).
  • Experience: Substantial industrial experience in mechanical engineering and experience in a lecturing or training role within the Further Education sector.
  • Skills: Strong communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire learners.
  • Knowledge: Specialist knowledge of CNC or machinist is essential.
