Kitchen Technician

The Position: We’re looking for Kitchen Technician (15 hours a week)

The award winning NWSLC Catering & Hospitality Department are looking to recruit a Kitchen Technician to join our ambitious and creative team.

The current provision includes the highly acclaimed Glegegate Restaurant and our recently reimagined Glebe St street food outlet, both of which are staffed by our students.

We are looking for a team player who can support the Chef and Front of House Team maintaining high standards of cleaning throughout the department.

  • Enthusiasm towards additional projects and competitions
  • Preparedness to go that extra mile-a key feature of the industry.

Responsibilities for the role:

The main duties of the post will be to:

  • To maintain all equipment and areas to a high standard of hygiene.
  • To clean pots, pans, crockery, cutlery, glassware and other equipment as required and ensure they are stored correctly.
  • Operation of cleaning equipment and machinery.
  • Sweeping and mopping.
  • Disposal of kitchen waste.
  • Assist in checking, receiving and stowing deliveries.
  • Assist with requirements for lesson set-up and clean-down.
  • To adhere to Food Safety and Health and Safety regulations, standards, policies, procedures and codes of practice.
  • To report all equipment faults to the manager.
  • Undertake any other duties within the spirit of the job description and commensurate with the grading of the post.
