This Apprenticeship is based in the College’s English and Maths Department, undertaking a range of administration duties to assist the English and Maths department in providing an effective service to staff and students.

The Administration Apprentice (English and Maths) is an excellent position to begin a career in a vibrant and supportive department.

The successful candidate will be involved in a variety of duties including:

  • Support teaching staff in classrooms with administering registers to record attendance to lessons
  • Support in maintaining of part time English & Maths assessment diaries and enrolment processes.
  • Support teaching staff with the collation and production of teaching, learning and assessment including classroom resources and the setting up of classroom spaces
  • Contact students regarding absence from College and work within the student absence monitoring process

Through a proactive, enthusiastic and customer focused approach you will help the College achieve our mission to provide skills for the future of our students and community, through outstanding teaching and learning. Your work will ultimately lead to increased number enrolments, highly accurate data plus positive development of the College reputation.

In this role you will gain valuable experience, knowledge and skills in business administration as well as the curriculum department of English and Maths.

Desired skills

  • Basic understanding of Administration functions and/or some experience
  • Strong attention to detail
  • A knowledge of Microsoft Office packages
  • Must enjoy problem solving and raising to a challenge
  • Strong organisation skills

  • Must have passion, energy and a commitment to succeed within administration
  • A people person who works well in a team
  • Honest and reliable – be confident enough to say when you’re unsure and ask for advice as and when needed

Desired qualifications

5 GCSEs grades 9-4/A*-C (or equivalent qualifications) including Maths and English – you will be supported to achieve these as part of your studies if you don’t have them already.

Future prospects

Potential to progress to a full-time position as an Admin Assistant. A lifelong career in the industry.

This is a successful team that has a very busy workload. They are looking for someone who can listen/learn and use their own initiative to quickly become a valued member of the team.

Department Info

In this role you will work closely with members of the curriculum admin and Maths & English teams. You will report directly to the Head of Department. You will be required to work across the multi-site Maths and English department, although primarily support in classrooms and with registers will be specifically located at Rotherham College.
