At Kirklees College we are always looking for new talent, and welcome applications from all sectors.
Whether in a teaching & learning role or in one of our specialised Business Support functions, you’ll be involved in nurturing and developing the next generation of construction workers, engineers, health workers and countless others.
We’re already a successful college, but we’re continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our story!
In the role of Motor Vehicle Lecturer, you’ll be based at our Engineering centre and your focus will be on delivering high quality lessons to apprentices and/or full-time learners, including school leavers and mature students.
Your key responsibilities will be to develop and teach programmes of study to meet the particular needs of our learners. The successful candidate will create a positive classroom environment by engaging learners and managing classroom sessions positively and with consideration. We aim to help our students develop self-regulation and confidence in their abilities as they prepare for their next step.
Ideally, you’ll have at least a Level 4 qualification in Motor Vehicle studies or related subject (or be able to prove equivalent ability) and experience in teaching young people, however, if you have worked in the motor vehicle industry and have experience that can be applied in the classroom this too is highly valued within our department. Knowledge and experience of heavy goods vehicles and/or hybrid/electric vehicles and/or MOT testing and/or air conditioning would be a significant advantage.
It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively, engage with young people and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.
Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
We believe learning is not just for our students: it’s an important part of working here too. Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You’ll also have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel.
