This is a vital appointment for our inclusive, influential, award-winning, Ofsted ‘Good’ Sixth Form. Reporting directly to the Principal, the role will be to lead The Sixth Form Bolton’s curriculum provision and to assume strategic leadership of the quality cycle and the student experience as we move into the final phase of our journey towards ‘Outstanding’. We want to appoint a leader who understands all elements of an outstanding, inclusive, and responsive curriculum, and can assure quality throughout our processes and procedures.  The ideal candidate will have a collegiate style, with presence, gravitas, and integrity, and be committed to The Sixth Form Bolton’s ethos of excellence and consistency in all outcomes for our students.

Located in our modern, single-site campus in Bolton’s bustling town centre, and within travelling distance from Manchester, Bury, Tameside, Rochdale, Stockport, and the towns of Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Cheshire, South Yorkshire, and North-West Derbyshire. Connected to the heart of the North West through the motorway network (M62, M60, M61, M67, and M56), we are the only specialist Sixth Form in the town and the largest provider of A Level studies in the borough, with a higher-than-average progression to Higher Education.

If you are successful in your application, you’ll be joining a Sixth Form ranked within the top 10% in the country. Producing outstanding outcomes in many subject areas, demand for places in The Sixth Form has increased over the years and the College is now oversubscribed in many academic areas. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the demand from our students for places, the College is also financially very stable with an officially ‘Outstanding’ financial rating.

Career and development opportunities at The Sixth Form Bolton are second-to-none, and we will ensure that you are both fully recognised and appreciated for your contribution. You will also benefit from extensive professional development and positive support from exceptional colleagues and leaders who care about those with whom they work.

This position will have strong appeal to –

  • A Deputy Headteacher who enjoys leading in KS5 will be excited by the prospect of being a part of the larger scale of The Sixth Form Bolton, building relationships within the town and our region, and seeking opportunities to help deliver excellence and security to young people on a wider scale.

Whatever your previous experience, we will ensure this post is the right one for you, with real prospects of career progression and job satisfaction.

The successful applicant will:
