Deputy Head of English and Maths - RC

About the Role

This is an exciting development opportunity to shape the provision of English and Maths for Rotherham College learners. 

In this role you will:

  • Operationally lead a Maths & English team;
  • Ensure the Maths & English curriculum is well planned, is focused on the delivery of high-quality teaching and learning and supports learners to achieve their qualifications and make outstanding progress;
  • Lead team meetings to ensure a culture of high expectations and support.

As Deputy Head of English and Maths you will have operational line management of campus English & Maths staff, which includes conducting professional reviews and identifying relevant CPD which leads to the sharing of best practice or improvements in performance. Working in collaboration with the Head of Department (HOD) and the Quality Team, carry out learning walks to support improvements to the Quality of Education and learning experience.

You will…

To be successful in this role you will have previous experience of successful curriculum management, particularly within English and Maths. You will have proven success of operational delivery through effective planning and monitoring of performance against agreed actions and targets.

You will have experience and understanding of the EIF and be able to influence and motivate large teams.

You will hold a Level 2 (or equivalent) qualification in English and Maths, and ideally a level 3 of higher.

You will have achieved a degree level qualification and a recognised teaching accreditation along with evidence of ongoing continuous professional development.

You may also possess an IT qualification i.e. Google Educator and a post-graduate qualification but these are not essential.

Department Info

The role of Deputy Head of English and Maths will be line managed by the Head of Department - Maths and English. In this role you will be expected to attend Curriculum Management Team meetings where possible and you will collaborate effectively with cross college staff including Vocational Teams; the Quality Team, the Additional Learning Support Team, the Exams Team and the Library Staff.

You will also work closely with the Deputies across the other campuses on a daily basis too.
