Technician - Mechanical Engineering

About the Role

In this key role for our Engineering department you will take an active role in supporting staff and students in workshop sessions by providing technical services to support the delivery of the College programmes.

You will have the opportunity to work in our Engineering workshops and you will use your knowledge, experience and ideas to continuously improve our current processes and procedures with the potential to develop these further to create the best training facilities in South Yorkshire. You will also be responsible for providing technical assistance and advice by taking an active role in supporting academic staff and students in all workshop activities.

 You will…

Have previous experience working within the Mechanical Engineering industry and ideally of working with young people. You will hold a relevant qualification and your L2 English and Maths or equivalent. You will need to have excellent team, communication and IT skills.

Desirable qualifications include Health & Safety, First Aid and Forklift Licence.

Departmental Information

You will be joining our team of Technicians working within our engineering dept, reporting to the Curriculum Manager and working closely with tutors, and team leaders.

You may also be required to support the department in other areas as such Fabrication and Welding, but the predominant focus will be within the Mechanical Engineering workshops.
