We’re already a successful college, but we’re continually striving to be better and do better - be part of our story!

In the role of Security Officer, you’ll be based to work between all our campuses, and your focus will be on making sure that the students, staff and visitors have a safe and welcoming environment in which to study, learn and work.

Your key responsibilities will include supporting and taking direction from the Security Team Leader in the provision of a day-to-day security support, servicing all college buildings on a daily basis and providing security liaison with Heads of Faculty at our centres in Huddersfield.

Duties include but are not exclusive to; the operation of CCTV equipment, internal and external patrols on all sites, meeting and greeting students, staff and visitors as they arrive, monitoring of college car parks / access to the sites, assisting curriculum and business support areas as needed. The understanding and ability to communicate with young people and the challenges that they face is key in this role as it includes a pastoral approach.

Ideally, you’ll have demonstrable experience of working across a large, multi-site establishment. It’s important that you’re able to work on your own initiative and be a reliable member of the wider Facilities team. You must be able to communicate in an easy and effective manner with all members of the college community in accurate spoken English. You will also be required to demonstrate and understand our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role.

Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding, equality and diversity and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

We believe learning is not just for our students: it’s an important part of working here too. Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You’ll also have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel.
