Are you passionate about creating a supportive learning environment? Do you thrive in a role that combines responsibility for Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) learner support? If so, we want you to be our Learner Support Manager (LSM) at Access Creative College and dBs Institute in Plymouth!

About the Role:

As the LSM, you'll be at the heart of our commitment to learner wellbeing, leading Safeguarding, Additional Learning Support (ALS), Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and pastoral care. This isn't just a job; it's an opportunity to shape the future of creative talent.

FE Duties:

In FE, you'll take charge of timetabling and planning, ensuring efficient deployment of staff supporting high-needs learners. You'll coordinate evidence gathering for EAAs, manage learners with Education, Health, and Care Plans, and build a robust network with local safeguarding boards and multi-agency partners. Your role as a Designated Safeguarding Lead and FE Exams Officer is vital to our small but dynamic centre.

HE Duties:

In HE, you'll maintain an overview of student support needs, conduct risk assessments, and create support plans. Meeting new applicants with additional needs, you'll assess their requirements and ensure a smooth transition into our creative community.

DSA Applications and Support:

You'll manage Disabled Students' Allowance (DSA) applications and provide 1-2-1 Non-Medical Helper support, including specialist study skills and mentoring. Your contribution to enhancing students' learning experiences will be invaluable.

About You:

We're looking for someone with thorough FE knowledge, experience coordinating teams, and managing pastoral support. Excellent communication and organisational skills are a must, along with the ability to implement and manage support timetables effectively.

To be eligible to carry out the DSA requirements of this role it is essential you have qualifications and organisational membership in line with the requirements of DSA, found on the following link (bottom of page 9 onwards): https://www.practitioners.slc.co.uk/media/1987/final-nmh-qualifications-matrix-july2023.pdf

If you're passionate about high-quality ALS, mental health, and wellbeing support, we want to hear from you!  Your experience is more important than meeting every single qualification listed. If your background brings value to the role, we encourage you to apply.

What We Offer:

  •  35 Days annual leave plus bank holidays
