Student Support is a key service area in the College offering non-academic support and advice to students. This could include working with vulnerable young people supported by a Social Worker, providing health and well-being advice, financial support and supporting students facing problems that affect their learning.
We wish to appoint a Student Support Officer who will work directly with our cohort of vulnerable students, including Looked After Children and those with a Social Worker, liaising with external professionals and attending Personal Education Plan meetings. In addition, you will provide appropriate welfare support to students and make referrals to external agencies and other professionals. You will also become a designated Safeguarding Officer.
You should have experience of working with young people in an informal environment, and have a good understanding of the needs of vulnerable students and Looked After Children. You should be able to communicate effectively, work with different agencies and have sound judgement and integrity with good attention to detail. The role can involve travelling to external meetings and between our two Campuses (Harrow on the Hill and Harrow Weald).
