Based at both the Huddersfield and Dewsbury Centres, but with willingness to work at any of the other college sites and out in the community as required and discussed in advance. Due to growth within the ESOL department we have exciting opportunities for flexible and dedicated tutors to join our ESOL team. We have a range of hours available during the day and evening. Based at either the Huddersfield or Dewsbury Centres but willing to work at any of the other college sites and in the community as required. Kirklees College is a large successful FE college, currently Ofsted graded as Good.

It operates across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within modern buildings, with a range of onsite facilities, including a fully equipped gym, hair & beauty salons and fine dining restaurant. Both the Huddersfield and Dewsbury centres are located close to the train station, and have excellent transport links. As a Lecturer in ESOL, you will teach on a range of levels from pre-entry to Level 2.

Ideally you will have a good understanding of the ESOL curriculum and be experienced in using appropriate teaching strategies to support learning. English, Maths and digital delivery may be incorporated so experience in teaching entry level, L1 functional skills and/or GCSE would be beneficial. We are looking for someone who is flexible, dedicated, keen to upskill, committed to reflective continuous improvement and a good team player who is willing to bring and share new ideas. Ideally, we would like someone who has recent experience in teaching within a further education organisation, private training provider or within a community learning environment.

We will consider applications from candidates with Industry and real life skills so that we can provide a range of opportunities for learners on college sites and out in the community. The qualifications deemed desirable for this post include a relevant qualification at Level 5 such as An Award in Education and a Minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C). The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is also essential for the post. A Level 5 teaching qualification would be beneficial or a willingness to undertake a Level 5 Certificate in Education or CELTA as part of role at the earliest opportunity.
