Please specify within your application which role you would like to be considered for.
Kirklees College is a large and successful FE college which was rated ‘Good’ in all areas following our recent Ofsted inspection in March 2023. Learners achieve high levels of success due to the quality and commitment of our teaching staff, with students benefitting greatly from their vocational and professional expertise. Our faculty offers a broad range of qualifications across the Health, Sport, Science, Childcare and Public Service sectors. We welcome applications from newly qualified teachers or applicants with relevant sector experience who are looking at taking their first steps towards a career in teaching and education.
Due to significant growth of the department on our applied science pathways we are looking to recruit a lecturer with the ability to enthuse, motivate and inspire every learner whether during the day in our 16-18 classes or in the evening with our adult and community learners. We welcome applications from newly qualified teachers, or individuals with relevant, non-teaching experience, in particular those from a physics and/or chemistry-related background.
The qualifications necessary for this role are a minimum of Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*- C) and a relevant subject-related or industry qualification at Level 6+. Experience of working in a FE College would be beneficial, as would a L5 Teaching Qualification. We could however support the right candidate to achieve their L5 qualification through our extensive in-house teacher training programmes or apprenticeships. Due to the nature of our work, it’s essential you’re committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.
It’s important that you’re able to communicate effectively, engage with young people and demonstrate our College values of Kindness, Unity and Excellence in your role. We believe learning is not just for our students: it’s an important part of working here too. Staff development opportunities include a mentoring scheme, financial contributions for external qualifications and skills development for current and aspiring managers. You’ll also have access to a range of staff benefits including an employee assistance programme, retail and leisure discounts and reduced Metro travel.
