About the Role
This new role has been created due to the growing success and increased demand for the Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling course at Leeds City College. An essential requirement of the course is for students to undertake placements; this is where students practise and develop the required skills to become a counsellor, through experiential learning in a service setting.
In this role, you will be responsible for organising and managing the internal counselling placements for the students on the course. Expanding the network and strengthening partnerships with external placement providers to increase availability of placement opportunities. Alongside, providing non-clinical supervision, identify and assessing appropriate referrals for counselling and timetabling rooms for the sessions to take place.
The Wellbeing Training and Student Placement Coordinator will also have a specific focus to work with the Wellbeing Manager to review, develop and deliver wellbeing and mental health training throughout the group and share good practice.
What You Will Do
- Develop processes as to how the internal placement programme can be embedded within the college and be successfully delivered.
- Plan and coordinate the delivery of the placement counselling sessions across college campuses and community sites.
- Assess appropriateness of student client referrals to receive trainee counselling using determined criteria including the use of CORE 10 screening measure.
- Work with the Wellbeing Manager to design, coordinate and deliver group wide training on wellbeing and mental health topics and themes.
- Proactively engage with internal and external stakeholders, build relationships and seek sustainable opportunities for future counselling placements; and attend external meetings.
About You
- Professional qualification or diploma in relevant field level 4 or above in counselling.
- Experience in a relevant subject including wellbeing, mental health, training or project management.
- Experience working as a counsellor.
- Experience of leading, mentoring and supporting individuals to develop their skills and professional practice and promote personal and professional growth.
- Experience of planning, developing and delivering innovative and impactful training, learning resources, campaign material and curriculum material to promote emotional and mental health and wellbeing.
- Experience of developing a projects, including determining processes and procedures.
