About Oldham College
Oldham College is ‘Where Learning Works and Skills Pay’ with a focus on skills and technical based learning. We are essential to the delivery of post-16 education and skills interventions in this borough and beyond.
Our focus on technical, professional and vocational opportunities for all ages and adult learning, including higher qualifications, sets us apart locally in providing a coherent, alternative set of work and classroom-based pathways for all learners seeking to progress in careers outside the residential three-year degree route.
Our courses are closely aligned to local, economic need and cover key industry sectors. We work with more than 700 businesses offering high-quality apprenticeships and placements to give learners ‘hands-on’ experience for their futures, and to produce the next generation of high-quality, skilled talent for employers.
We are proud of our transformation and achievements over the past decade - and that is matched by our confidence about the next exciting chapter in our journey.
Our town centre campus has attracted around £45 million in investment during recent times to deliver state-of-the-art and inspirational learner environments on a site which now ranks alongside the best in the Greater Manchester region.
Recent additions include a new £9 million Construction Centre, the incorporation of the former GM UTC into our estate, plus significant investment in our T Level facilities.
Oldham College’s profile has also flourished with national recognition and awards acknowledging the calibre of our teaching and learning, and our contributions to the local economy and community. These include, for example, being named the Edufuturists ‘FE College of the Year’ 2021, and a Princess Royal Training Award for our flagship Teaching for Distinction programme. We are also part of the WorldSkills UK Centre of Excellence and a Beacon Awards 2022/23 finalist for our ‘Support for Students’.
