Kirklees College is a large successful FE college, currently Ofsted graded as Good. Operating across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury. Primarily based in Huddersfield, the successful candidate will work within a modern building, with excellent on-site facilities, such as a fully equipped gym, hair & beauty salons and fine dining restaurant.
This is an exciting role and would suit those either seeking a new administrative challenge within a busy department or someone looking to take their first steps into a Health and Safety career. In the role you’ll provide administrative support to the college’s health and safety department. Working as part of a proactive team you’ll be involved in supporting all aspects of Health and Safety administration with a particular focus on:
• Administrating and monitoring compliance of the colleges health and safety management systems.
• Administrating and managing the colleges health surveillance system.
• Liaising with the HR team to ensure records are stored in a timely and confidential manner.
• Assisting with the collection and analysis of data and statistics and to produce relevant reports in respect of accidents, incidents, near misses and compliance.
• Scheduling, attending meetings and taking minutes.
• Raise purchase orders and manage consumables – First Aid, DSE etc.
• Review low level risk assessments and offsite activity reports.
• Liaise with staff development and to arrange and monitor training compliance.
As a member of the college’s health and safety team the post holder will work in an environment of constant change and pressure where an amount of personal decision-making and judgement is required. The post holder must have the ability to work with a wide range of people of all ages from very different backgrounds with very different needs and to respond accordingly to support those needs.
Ideally, you’ll have a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*- C) or be able to prove equivalent ability. A Level 2 Business Admin or Customer Service or equivalent and an IOSH Managing Safely would be desirable for the post although not essential as full training will be given to the successful applicant. Actual salary range: £20,864 - £22,238
