About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an individual to join the established Apprenticeship Hub within our further education college of the University of Derby. Buxton and Leek College has campuses based in Leek Staffordshire and Buxton, Derbyshire. You will join the Carpentry and manufacturing team in the specialist facility. We offer apprenticeships at Level 2 and 3 Site / Bench pathways working on delivery materials for apprenticeships standards in the carpentry.
You’ll have Industrial expertise in Carpentry/Joinery, readily apply initiative, demonstrate a commitment to working as a team member and produce work of a high quality.
This role includes delivering the new apprenticeship standards and visiting the apprentices at their employer and developing their skills, knowledge and behaviours. You’ll assess the candidates, prepare the apprenticeship standards for their end point assessment, and plan the delivery of the standards for the practical and associated learning.
You’ll also maintain records and e-portfolios, plan off the job training, maintain good relationships with apprentices and external stake holders and attend events and open days.
We have the opportunity to support people wanting to gain their teaching qualifications directly from industry and will consider people looking to start their careers in education for this role.
On appointment the job title for this position will be Carpentry Apprenticeship Instructor/Mentor
Please note that unfortunately, this role will not attract sufficient points to obtain a sponsored Skilled Worker visa under the UK Visas & Immigration points-based immigration system; however, applications are welcome from candidates who do not currently have the right to work in the UK, but who would be eligible to obtain a valid visa via another route.
