Role Purpose & Description
The successful candidate will contribute to effective management, development and maintenance for the premises across all aspects including site security, providing proactive and planned maintenance, whole college presentation, cleanliness of the premises and grounds and, where possible, contribute towards achieving greater value for money and effective use of resources.
Role Responsibilities & Requirements
General Duties:
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Promote Trust and team values and standards and exhibit appropriate behaviours in accordance with Trust ethos
- Ensuring all records are kept up to date on the shared drive
Facilities/Asset Management & Service Delivery:
- Taking responsibility as required for the maintenance and upkeep of the premises, including buildings, fixtures, fittings and furniture
- Carry out regular inspections to remove any graffiti Carry out any minor repairs and to report major repairs requiring further work to the Premises Manager
- Carry out decoration of small areas as required
- Engage in preventative maintenance to eliminate potential hazards
- Proactively identify and carry out general reactive/planned maintenance tasks and grounds maintenance
- Assist with large display mounting, moving sets for productions, moving furniture prior to cleaning or to decoration taking place, repairs to classrooms/ equipment
- Move delivered parcels / post/ stock to the appropriate areas
- Furniture moving and set ups, including tables, desks and chairs for exams
- Opening and locking of gates, doors and windows as appropriate
- Taking reasonable steps to minimise loss or damage to staff or property
- Help with taking heavy or bulky items to the external wheelie bins
- Ensuring that the necessary action is taken to minimise risk of further intrusion and damage pending permanent repairs
- Responding to out of hours alarm activations as necessary and required
- Assisting the Operations assistant with adhoc project work
- Unblocking of toilets when required and regularly checking that all soap dispensers and toilet roll holders are in good working condition
- Carry out weekly and monthly PPM duties like ladder checks, water temperature checks, hand dryer checks, refuse call checks, internal fire doors checks, monthly emergency lighting checks
- Help with the replacement of AC filters and PAT testing

Health & Safety:
- To deliver effective Health and Safety policies and procedures and work management practises
- Use of the facilities request system
- Have knowledge of fire precautions and the use and maintenance of fire equipment
- Partial isolation of the fire alarm panel when required and ensuring guidelines are followed
- Clear ice and snow, and putting down salt to aid access and egress to the site
- Report all accidents and potential hazards using Trust procedures
- Check safety doors are secured against unauthorised entry where appropriate
- Promote a positive Health & Safety culture with all users of the site premises
- Ensure that all staff and contractors adhere to company Health and Safety Procedures when carrying out works on site and they are DBS cleared
- Keep all external grounds clean including the roof terrace
- Keep all escape routes clear from debris and obstruction and ensuring all exit doors are in good condition in accordance with Health & Safety requirements
- Ensuring the premises is kept safe at all times
