Grounds and Estate Assistant

Full Time – 37 hours per week - occasional evening / weekend work

Fixed Term Contract - 12 months

Based at the St Albans Campus
Start date ASAP

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Oaklands College Estates and Grounds team. The Oaklands estate at St Albans extends to 289 acres and consists of woodland, agricultural land, waterways, sports areas, lawns, hard landscaping and formal gardens. With additional sites at Welwyn Garden City and Borehamwood. This position would be ideal for an enthusiastic horticulturalist who would be joining a team responsible not only for maintaining the estate grounds but also improving it through projects to enrich our open spaces, assisting with public events such as Lambing Day and Spring Fair.

The vision of the College is for the Estates and Grounds team to provide an environment that is attractive, safe, clean and tidy that supports the needs of all our Students, College Staff and the Community around us.

The ideal candidate should have experience working over a variety of horticultural areas and work closely within a team whilst being able to work independently when needed. A relevant horticultural or sports turf maintenance Level 2 qualification or equivalent experience would be beneficial, in addition, experience of working in a manual environment and a driving licence is a must (due to day to day use of ride on equipment such as ATVs, tractors etc.)
