About the Role

We are looking to recruit a creative and inspiring Programme Manager with a passion particularly in Maths to join our ever growing, successful team at Quarry Hill Campus.  Experience in English valuable as the role covers both subjects.  The team delivers GCSE & Functional Skills Maths & English to both 16-18 & Adult learners who are enrolled on a Study Programme or a full time course within the School of Social Sciences.

What You Will Do

The post will report to the Deputy Head of English & Maths and will involve working closely with the other English & Maths Programme Managers to drive curriculum and improve the experience and outcomes for learners studying Maths and English as part of their study programme . As part of the role you will:

  • Manage a team of specialist English and/or Maths staff in delivering outstanding teaching & learning and supporting learners to achieve their qualification. 
  • Manage activities and strategies to ensure the high retention, achievement, success and attendance rates in Maths and English
  • Manage the planning, preparation and development of schemes of work, lesson plans, teaching and learning resources and assessment plans.
  • Manage the recording of student progress and to ensure that individual and group learner targets are being met.
  •  Build positive relationships with both staff &  learners & provide support to ensure successful outcomes.

About You

The ideal candidate will be an experienced teacher & leader with a track record to improve standards in English &/or Maths that will drive learners towards their aspirational destinations. 

The person will have;

  • a passion for their curriculum area
  • current knowledge of GCSE/syllabus 
  • experience of positively managing student and group progression
  • experience of supporting staff to be Maths and English champions. 
  • substantial experience of undertaking internal verification and moderation activities
  • proven commitment to continuous professional development

Teamwork and collaboration is essential. The successful applicant will have an interest in developing programmes of study for harder to reach learners.
