Following a recent restructure to expand and improve our SEND provision, an exciting opportunity has arisen for the SEND Department within the Student Experience Directorate at Kirklees College. The additional positions of SEND Support Worker will provide exceptional student support across all curriculum areas and college sites.

You will be working with our most vulnerable SEND (Special Education Needs and Disabilities) students to support their learning, achievement and progression into adulthood both in and out of the classroom environment.  You will have to develop supportive relationships with students whilst remaining professional and deliver strategies to promote/reinforce student self-esteem. You will be required to provide physical and personal care support.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience of working with young people in an educational capacity and must understand EHCP’s and SEND. It is essential you have knowledge and experience of different learning needs and using strategies to support students to become independent. You will need excellent communication and digital skills and be able to work under the direction of the class tutor and use your own initiative.

The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C) and a minimum Level 2 Qualification relevant to the post. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is also essential for the post.
