A great opportunity has arisen for an experienced Head of SEND & Student Experience, who is passionate about giving students an exceptional experience.

You will report to the Vice Principal and provide inspirational leadership to our learning support team, including SEND, learning support, inclusive learning provision, student experience, safeguarding, wellbeing and residential teams. You will champion vulnerable groups including High Needs Learners ensuring Learning Support is effective and maximise attendance, retention and achievement. In addition you will ensure the College is compliant with the Department of Health Guidelines for “FE Colleges Accommodating under 18’s”, Health and Safety and all other relevant legislation and models of best practice and take the lead on Ofsted inspections of the residential function. The postholder will also be required to act as one of the Designated Safeguarding Leads for the College and ensure that safeguarding of learners is prioritised.

Responsible for providing an outstanding student experience through high quality Careers Advice, Personal Development Tutorials, student enrichment and enhancement opportunities. Using your knowledge of funding you will ensure that our high needs provision is fully costed and communicated with the relevant County Councils in accordance with agreed timescales.

You will be qualified up to degree level and hold a minimum of a Level 3 qualification in a subject relevant to the College curriculum. Ideally you will already hold a Level 3 Safeguarding qualification but if not the College will support the right candidate to achieve this in the initial period of their employment.

You will be capable of costing out programmes to ensure financial viability and the maximisation of funding. You will have prior experience of being the Safeguarding Lead and engaging with inspectors during key inspections.

You will be able to demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills using this to engage with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders and develop positive professional relationships. You should have a flexible approach to work to meet the needs of the role associated with both day and residential students.
