Careers, Work Experience & Progression is part of the Student Life Directorate. The Directorate leads on activities and strategies which contribute to an outstanding further education student experience closely aligned with the college and group strategic objectives. Careers, Work Experience & Progression (CWP) supports students through guidance, opportunities, and experience to make informed life choices about their career pathway and destination.

The CWP team works collaboratively with curriculum departments and other service areas as well as external partners. The successful candidate for this role will need to be innovative and collaborative in their outlook, with excellent communication skills. In their professional practice they will need to demonstrate attention to detail, be a good administrator and have experience of student engagement, working with a diverse range of stakeholders and an understanding of post 16 education. This exciting role is ideal for someone who has worked on student placements, at home and overseas, and understands the demands and nuances of this type of work.


  • Work with the International Projects and Compliance Lead to coordinate international opportunities for students and staff through externally funded projects
  • Forward thinking in  approach to scope and investigate new opportunities
  • Good communication and negotiation skills to develop sector specific mobilities with curriculum departments and international partners, as well as talking to, and supporting students and their parents/carers
  • Solution focused and able to lead on the practical arrangements of international placements and visiting international students and staff
  • Attention to detail, and good administration skills are essential for this role
  • Take operational responsibility for activities for student and staff placements & projects overseas which will enhance and enrich the student experience 
  • Act as a source of information, knowledge, and advice, providing high quality market intelligence and identifying business development opportunities to support international student experience
  • Maintain and further develop good relations with partner organisations and institutions, including agencies, national bodies, funding bodies and sponsors


For this post, we are looking for a person who has experience of international work and or coordination of work placements or other student enrichment activity.

  • Understand the nuances of working with a range of stakeholders within the context of externally funded programmes in an education setting
  • A degree or higher-level qualification or equivalent experience
  • Level 2 in English & Maths
  • Qualification in a relevant discipline such Project Management (or willingness to undertake)
  • Aware of international trends and opportunities for oversea placements for students and staff 
  • Ability to relate effectively, demonstrating excellent interpersonal and communication skills which are applicable to a range of stakeholders and prospective external clients and funding bodies 
  • Proven ability in administration or project work and good written communication skills
  • Ability to coordinate specific action plans and activities
  • Proven ability to prioritise, meet deadlines, multitask, work independently and as part of a team 
  • Excellent time management and attention to detail including compliance to college policies and funding regulations
  • Ability to use digital media innovatively and to promote student and staff activity to a range of stakeholders
