HR Officer

Part-time (0.5 appointment)

David Game College, established in 1974 and based in the City of London, is an Ofsted inspected, QAA reviewed and OfS registered independent college of further and higher education with a reputation for quality and academic excellence.

With a growing course portfolio and increasing student numbers the College has an expanding team of academics, administrators and support staff employed on a full-time, part-time and flexible basis that require organised and effective HR support and management. We therefore require an enthusiastic, hard-working and experienced HR Officer to join the DGC team from January 2023.

The HR Officer will support the College’s Department Heads (across both FE and HE) in ensuring the highest professional service standards are provided. The role will encompass a variety of responsibilities including assisting with managing the day-to-day operation of the generalist HR function: recruitment and selection (and supporting ‘safer recruitment’ in relation to our school’s division), contracts, fixed-term contract ends, maintenance of the College’s staff ‘central record’ and all personnel files ensuring compliance with external agencies - e.g. Ofsted, UKVI, etc.; offering advice on leave, sickness absence, disciplinary and grievance; and managing policy changes effectively.

The HR Officer is also required to actively contribute to the development of best practice ensuring that best practice, equality of opportunity and diversity requirements are met and continuously improved.

The successful candidate will be educated to degree level (or equivalent and/or CIPD qualified), experienced in delivering effective and timely HR administrative and advisory services within the further or higher education sector and have excellent analytical, communication, IT and prioritisation skills. The ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, team-working and a commitment to high quality service delivery is essential.

This is a flexible part-time appointment (20 hours/wk) consisting of a combination of in-college and remote working (i.e. working from home), depending on the requirements of the tasks in hand.
