Heart of Yorkshire Education Group are looking for an enthusiastic Driver/Handyperson/Caretaker to join our friendly Estates team.
The key purpose of the role is to undertake driving duties to enable students to attend college as well as ad hoc journeys taking staff and students to various locations. You will ensure that the College’s sites and buildings provide a safe, secure, comfortable and acceptable environment for students, staff and site visitors at all times. You will also assist caretakers and provide cover for absence.
As well as driving duties you will work with the estates team to maintain adequate site and building security whilst allowing operational access to building users as required. You will maintain, check, clean and re-fuel the College transport fleet, reporting without delay all safety and mechanical defects noted.
You will undertake regular check of fire alarms, emergency lighting and security as well as regular cleaning and tidying of external areas and grounds including refuse disposal.
You will ideally be a trained first aider or be willing to work towards this certification. MIDAS certification is essential or this role and candidates who already hold this qualification will have a distinct advantage, training will be proved for candidates who do not hold a MIDAS certification.
A full driving licence is essential as is a Minimum Cat D1 driving licence.
You will have the ability to work on your own initiative and be able to take control of unplanned emergencies.
Terms and Conditions:
Hours: 31 hours per week, 38 weeks per year
Salary: £13,004 actual salary (FTE £18,563)
