Hours: 37 hours per week, 40 weeks per year

Fixed-term contract ending 31st July 2023

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Pastoral Support Department at Kirklees College. The role is cross college and flexibility to travel to other college sites is required of the successful candidate.

The overall purpose of the post is to provide high quality pastoral support across the college to the hardest to reach students; working with others to ensure appropriate plans and strategies are in place to support healthy social and emotional development and promote positive behaviour using a restorative practice approach. To offer a range of 1:1 and small group holistic support to ensure a rounded approach to support for students and to promote and uphold the values of the college.

The ideal candidates will have previous experience of working with young people in an educational/ youth work or guidance capacity. Ideally, they will also have experience of conflict resolution, restorative practice, and evidence of successfully using de-escalation techniques with young people.

The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C) and educated to Level 3 e.g. BTEC, NVQ, A-Level equivalent. The ability to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in accurate spoken English is also essential for the post.

Kirklees College is a large successful FE college, currently Ofsted graded as Good. Operating across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury.
