Kirklees College is a large successful FE college, currently Ofsted graded as Good. Operating across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within a modern building, with excellent on site facilities, such as a fully equipped gym, hair & beauty salons and fine dining restaurant.

Due to significant growth in our SEND provision, an exciting opportunity has arisen in the Foundation Learning Department within the Student Experience Directorate at Kirklees College. As a Work Experience Officer you will work closely with curriculum staff, the job coach and employers to create opportunities for students with SEND to gain meaningful work experience to support them on their pathway to employment.

The successful applicant will source individual and group work placements and deliver work based experience tutorials to support with developing the employment skills of all students who are on the employability pathway.  The role requires an ability to adapt to the needs of individual students and employers and to develop relationships with a range of stakeholders to ensure that students develop employability skills in work settings (potentially leading to employment) whilst meeting the requirements of employers.

You will work on site and off site and will need to be prepared to travel to various settings with groups or individual students. An inclusive approach to disabilities and the skills to advocate for young people with additional needs would be a positive.

The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in literacy and numeracy (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*-C)

As a learning organisation and as part of our commitment to your continued professional development we may require you to complete an apprenticeship standard or framework that relates to this opportunity.
