GDPR and Data Protection Administration Officer

We are seeking an Administration Officer with experience in data protection and GDPR legislative matters for a 12 months’ contract in the first instance. 

You will working on a flexible basis for 36 weeks per year, 25 hours per week and the option of hybrid working is also available.

As the GDPR and Data Protection Administration Officer, you will be joining the governance support service within North Warwickshire and South Leicestershire College and The Midland Academies Trust.  You will be responsible for supporting the Clerk to the Corporation and Data Protection Officer with the administration of matters related to data protection and GDPR.

Your core responsibilities will be as follows:

  • To provide support in the management of data subject access requests (SARs). This will include document searches and information gathering, scanning and redacting of documents.
  • To maintain the log of data breaches and near misses, and support in the implementation of remedial recommendations and actions.
  • Support the investigation and reporting of data breaches, liaising with the Information Commissioner’s Office where appropriate.
  • Support the Data Protection Officer in the management of data protection impact assessment procedures and the review of data sharing agreements.
  • Provide general administration support for the data protection officer, including minuting the Information Governance Group and Data Protection Co-ordinators Group meetings.

This role will suit someone with experience in fielding subject access requests and other requests for records on behalf of large-scale organisations. You should have a clear understanding of the rules surrounding disclosure of records, as set down in the UK GDPR and by the ICO.

You will work with a wide range of internal and external customers in this new role, so being able to build strong and credible relationships while upholding the College values will be integral to your success. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are a must.

Finally, you will be comfortable working in a fast-paced, growing business environment and be able to organise and prioritise effectively to tight deadlines.
