Construction Workshop Technician

Supporting Futures at Selby College have a full-time role available for someone with construction experience to join our team.

The key purpose of the role is to provide technical and mentoring support to learners in Construction and to support with the preparation of the workshop area, materials and equipment to be used in the practical activities in the department.

The role:

To work with staff and students in the Construction area supporting activities 1:1 and in groups

To maintain the workshop environment to support learners to receive good practical experience

Ensure maintenance of equipment is carried out and recorded, so that all equipment is safe for use. 

Ensure all aspects of the Construction workshop conform to Health and Safety requirements and that any incidents/risks are brought to the attention of the manager immediately

Set up and manage systems for equipment use, stock control and ordering

Working with Lecturers/Trainers/Assessors to develop codes of practice for work within the Teaching/Training environment

Carry out risk assessment in the Construction building

Assist in the promotion of the College and its activities to students, local schools and potential customers

The person:

We are looking for someone with minimum level 2 Construction skills gained in a Construction environment.

Candidates with a level 3 qualification in a Construction related field will have a distinct advantage.

Wide range of experience within the construction environment is essential.

You must be a team player who is able to cope in a busy environment.

You will have good communication skills and a good level of experience and understanding of computer software packages such as Microsoft Office.

Terms and Conditions:

Supporting Futures Selby Ltd provides support staff to Selby College.  The terms are:

Salary:  £19009 per annum

Holiday: 25 days per annum

Hours: 37 hours per week

Closing date: Sunday 26 June 2022

The expected start date for the role is late August 2022
