Trainee Lecturer in Horticulture

We have a great opportunity based at our Shuttleworth campus for a Trainee Lecturer in Horticulture to become a key member of our Land and Environment department.

As a Trainee Lecturer in Horticulture, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students through:

  • Preparing, delivering and assessing a range of Further Education Horticulture and part time RHS provision.
  • Undertaking course administration as necessary including learner registration, assessment planning, exams entry and leadership of RHS Level 2 and 3 theory courses.
  • Contributing to developments within the Programme Area/Centre.
  • Contributing to curriculum development where appropriate.

Our ideal candidates will have experience of recent experience in the Horticultural industry and experience of working constructively to achieve team objectives and deadlines, alongside the following qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent in Horticulture.
  • Level 3 vocational qualification in Horticulture or related equivalent qualification.
  • Level 2 and 3 RHS Theory and Practical Certificates.
  • GSCE Maths and English (grades A – C) or equivalent
  • Willingness to undertake additional training

  • 22.2 hours per week (0.6 FTE) / 52 weeks per year
  • £20,910 - £31,323 per annum, pro rata for part-time
  • 35 days per annum (plus public holidays), pro rata for part-time
