Teacher / Lecturer in GCSE English

Heart of Yorkshire Education Group is looking for an enthusiastic Lecturer in GCSE English who can successfully deliver English skills to groups of GCSE re-sit students looking to upskill alongside their main 16-19 course. The role is expected to be full time but we are able to consider a 0.8 contract of 29.6 hours per week over 4 days.

Based at Selby College within rural North Yorkshire, you will have the opportunity to deliver high quality teaching to motivated students who are willing to learn.

The Role:

  • Through teaching; contribute to the development of the curriculum area according to specialism including the preparation of learning materials, student assessments and technology-based resources.
  • Effectively and efficiently undertake the administrative tasks required by internal systems and external bodies. This will include course leadership activities and student administration.
  • Assess, monitor, review and evaluate student progress, keeping accurate records of assessments and using college reporting systems as directed.
  • Contribute to the development of links with schools and other partnership arrangements including links with external bodies.
  • Develop resources for the course/subject and maintain effective links across College for resources, including effective use of budgets.
  • Assist in the promotion of the College and recruitment for full and part time courses

The Person:

*    You will have successfully taught English GCSE in an FE or high school setting.

*    You will be a graduate in a related field and hold a teaching   qualification.

*    You will have excellent presentation and classroom management skills.

*    You will have a positive attitude towards flexibility, change and innovation.

*    You will have enthusiasm and empathy in working with post 16 students.

Terms and Conditions:

Hours: 
37 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum (full-time) 29.6 hours per week, 52 weeks per annum (0.8)

Holidays:   
37 days per annum for the full-time role 29.5 days per annum for the 0.8 role

Plus, statutory bank holidays (pro-rata for the 0.8 role)

Salary:                  
£26,023-£34,259 for the full-time role

£20,818-£2,7407 for the 0.8 role depending on candidate
