We are seeking an enthusiastic, dedicated individual to work with us as a Modern Apprentice in Wood Machining on a 4 Year Fixed term contract to complete the MA. Supporting the operations of our technician and academic staff in the training workshops with preparing materials for classes along with Inspecting, maintaining, and repairing machines and equipment.

Job Purpose:

Applications are being invited from individuals who are looking at studying towards a Wood Machinist qualification whilst undertaking a recognised modern apprenticeship. This an ideal opportunity to get experience working in a busy environment, supporting staff and students at UHI Inverness.

Key Accountabilities:

This exciting opportunity will have you partaking in a wide range of responsibilities including maintaining machinery and preparing materials for programme delivery. Supporting at Open Day/Evening events to promote the study of Construction and ensuring a safe day to day running of the machine shop and workshops.

Essential Criteria:

  • IT skills in MS Office
  • Ability to work effectively as a team member in a fast-moving environment, providing an effective service to a wide variety of clients
  • Ability to prioritise and organise individual and team tasks effectively and in accordance with the requirements of service level agreements

Please note: the successful post holder will need to pass a satisfactory PVG Scheme membership through Disclosure Scotland prior to commencing employment.
