Working week: Monday - Friday, 08:00 - 17:00; Total hours per week: 40.00
A project engineer is responsible for planning, procuring and delivering construction projects. This role includes responsibility for Health and Safety, technical approvals, quality control and risk management.
As a Project Engineer you will take ownership and have joint commercial responsibility for delivery of your relevant discipline (mechanical or electrical). You will also help to co-ordinate the site construction, commissioning and handover activities of M&E projects.
Duties Include:
- Review M&E design documentation to ensure compliance with customer specifications and relevant standards
- Lead M&E disciplines on behalf of the site team in co-ordination / management of M&E construction activities
- Procure materials and labour sub-contract orders in line with the construction programme
- Ensure safe systems of work (Risk assessments & method statements) are in place for mechanical, electrical and process works
- Produce testing & commissioning plans
- Supervise / monitor testing & commissioning activities prior to practical completion and soft landings
- Prepare and issue sub-contract and supply only enquiry packages
- Evaluate and compare quotations and technical proposals
- Work with the planner to produce and monitor short- and long-term programmes
- Expedite off site works
- Ensure company quality systems are in place and are adhered to
- Identify change and provide advice to the commercial department
- Operator liaison
- Risk management
Desired skills
- Any relevant work experience is desired, but not essential
- An interest in construction is required
Personal qualities
- Candidates must be well presented, articulate and be able to communicate in a confident and professional manner. Candidates must be able to work as part of a team but should also be self-motivated and able to work on their own initiative with minimal supervision
- Possession of a full UK driving license would also be preferential (progression towards a practical test is acceptable)
Desired qualifications
- GCSE maths and English - grade 4 / C or above or equivalent
- Level 3 Construction & Built Environment qualification, Level 3 Building Services qualification, or significant relevant industry - mechanical or Electrical experience
