Student Support is a key service area in the College offering non-academic support and advice to students. This could include help with housing, benefits, health and well-being, relationship difficulties and any other problem that affects students’ learning.
We wish to appoint a Support Officer who will work directly with young people in an informal and supportive capacity. This post plays a vital and central part in supporting the management of students’ positive behaviour within the College. You will work directly with our ‘at risk’ students to provide extra support to help those students stay on track and complete their qualification. The post holder will be based in the Student Support team and will also contribute to wider duties, such as assisting in coordinating the Learner Voice, one to one support, help with enrolment and to provide appropriate financial and welfare support for students.
The successful candidate should have experience of working with young people in an informal and supportive capacity, together with experience of working within an educational environment and experience of working with young people with challenging/poor behaviour. You should be able to motivate and positively influence young people, demonstrate sound judgement and integrity and be able to work on your own initiative. You should also be a good team player and have a strong understanding and commitment to Equality and Diversity and Safeguarding.
The College has recently introduced a Working from Home policy. You may be able to work a proportion of your work time from home. Working from Home may be possible where this does not adversely impact on the operational needs of the College.
