Farm Manager

Agricultural education and training is at the heart of Moulton College’s activity. The farmed estate extends to nearly 500 hectares and the land is farmed with particular emphasis placed upon sound environmental practice. The College farm combines arable, sheep and beef enterprises. It provides students with a range of high quality practical activities and experiences whilst operating to high levels of both physical and commercial performance.

We are now looking for a practical hands-on Farm Manager to oversee this core commercial area. You will be responsible for ensuring high standards of animal welfare and farm operations. You will place a high value on providing students with meaningful commercial experience on a farm enterprise operating at the forefront of the industry. The farm enterprise plays a key role in effective skills development of our students and forming a strong relationship with our academic team will be crucial.

You will be capable to manage a business operating to agreed budgets and be able to provide regular updates and reports to a range of stakeholders. In addition, you will actively seek out new revenue generating activity to ensure the farm continues to make a positive financial, contribution. Additionally, this may include securing and using grants and bursaries to deliver key projects. You will ensure safe working practices and conditions on the estate including compliance with animal welfare, health and safety, environmental health and other relevant legislation and codes of practice.

You will have previous experience of working on a similar farm or estate. You will be passionate about high standards and quality and be committed to the highest standards of safety. You will be a confident communicator and able to deal with a variety of people including, college staff, suppliers and students appropriately. In addition you will be a confident user of IT systems and have effective and engaging people management skills.
