FE Academic Study Support Coach

Location: The Joseph Wright Centre
Specific Hours: 22.2 hours per week

Fixed Term until 31 July 2022

Derby College are looking to appoint an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join the DANCOP (Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire Collaborative Outreach Programme) team as part of the Office for Students funded National Collaborative Outreach Programme (NCOP). 

NCOP aims to identify and address matters around progression into Higher Education.  In particular, it seeks to undertake outreach/In reach activity in specific local area where HE participation is low overall. 

The successful candidate will be experienced in developing and delivering activities for young people and parents/carers, ideally focussed around raising aspirations to Higher education.  You will be required to work closely with school staff to ensure targeted provision is relevant, and successfully delivered, monitored and evaluated.

 The successful candidates will have the following:

• Excellent Communication skills and an ability to interact effectively with young people and school staff professionals
• Knowledge of higher education progression routes and the UCAS application process
• Networking skills, ideally with knowledge of local education provision
• An understanding of the barriers to progression that young people for a wide range of backgrounds may face
