This role has variable hours.

WHAT WE DO 

We have two posts: (1.) for part-time teaching in Outreach centres during the day. (2.) Evening and Saturday teaching at the Enfield Centre, LS7 1RG. We have many teachers who work part-time on variable hours contracts, but may work elsewhere through the day or are dependent on partners for childcare so can only work outside traditional nine to five hours. If you applied previously in our last August advert, you do not need to apply again. We teach Mon-Thurs until 09:30-21:00 and Saturdays from 09:30-15:00. Successful applicants may choose anything from one session to more; dependent on availability. Our sessions are 2.5 hours. Hourly pay is up to £25.00, dependent on qualifications. The ESOL department at Leeds City College is a grade 1 department. In 2019-20 there were over 3000 students with a team of 100, bringing education and life-changing experiences to our ESOL students. ESOL adults are some of our most vulnerable citizens and account for the largest populations in our poorest Wards in Leeds. The ESOL team are based predominantly at the Enfield Centre, and with 16-19 (sixth form) groups in North Street, and smaller provision at Beeston, Deacon House and some outreach centres.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Plan, prepare and develop schemes of work, session plans, teaching and learning resources, learning and assessment plans.
  • Develop the essential knowledge and understanding to teach ESOL learners.
  • Create individual SMART learning targets linked to learner study programme/course.
  • Monitor students to achieve their targets and develop their skills to enable progression.

YOUR PROFILE 

  • You should hold a L5 Teaching Qualification (e.g. Cert Ed, PGCE, Delta).
  • You should have a relevant English degree.
  • You should have experience teaching ESOL in Further Education.
  • You may have some experience teaching EFL.

If you are an EU, EEA or Swiss citizen and you were resident in the UK on or before 31 December 2020, you have until 30 June 2021 to apply to the EU Settlement Scheme, you can continue to prove your right to work in the UK with your passport and identity card up until 30 June 2021. 

There is no change to immigration and right to work for British and Irish Citizens.
