Student Support is a key service area in the College offering non-academic support and advice to students. This could include help with housing, benefits, health and well-being, relationship difficulties and any other problem that affects students’ learning.
We wish to appoint a Support Officer who will work directly with young people in an informal environment. You will work specifically with vulnerable students, including Looked After Children (LACs), organising and attending Personal Education Plan meetings and liaising with external professionals. In addition, you will provide appropriate financial and welfare support to students and make referrals to external agencies and other professionals. You will also become a designated Safeguarding Officer.
You should have experience of working with young people in an informal environment, and have a good understanding of the needs of vulnerable students and Looked After Children. You should be able to remain calm under pressure and have sound judgement and integrity with good attention to detail. The role will involve travelling to external meetings and between our two Campuses (Harrow on the Hill and Harrow Weald).
