One Garden Brighton is a newly redeveloped tourist destination, a walled garden, rediscovered, reinvented and open to the public for the first time. One Garden Brighton features expertly designed gardens, One Garden Kitchen, a place to eat and drink, One Garden Market, a retail space complete with nursery, and One Garden Events offering small and large-scale community events. One Garden Brighton is a subsidiary of Plumpton College. This is a Fixed term contract until February 2023.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new organisation and team leading the development of an educational community outreach programme of activity. You will be integral to building this new business, shaping and influencing how the tourist destination will run. As Learning Outreach Officer you will work alongside the Commercial Manager, Marketing & Events Coordinator and Site Coordinator and Senior Gardener. You will be part of the wider Plumpton College Team, reporting to the Head of Marketing, Communications & Customer Experience, with close working with the school liaison team.
This role is primarily responsible for ensuring that One Brighton at Stanmer Park attracts and benefits a wide demographic both in the pursuit of individual leisure, education and enrichment but also as a means of ensuring the longer-term sustainability and operation of the gardens.
In doing so the post holder will maintain a close relationship with the Estate Manager and the Park Ranger Team as well as local community groups and schools as a key means in delivering elements of the National Lottery Heritage Fund activity plan. To begin with you will help to engage the local community in the project, bringing onboard a volunteer programme to bring the garden to life. You will be an ambassador for the Garden, promoting horticultural education as the main contact for the public, delivering an exceptional customer service, maximising user experience.
