Counselling Co-ordinator

We have a great opportunity based at our Kettering campus for a Counselling Co-ordinator to become a key member of our Student Services department.

As a Counselling Co-ordinator, you will play a pivotal role in the success of our students through:

  • Addressing the mental well-being needs of students, co-ordinate provision of appropriate college support through volunteer Counsellors, and referral on to specialist external agencies, where necessary
  • Being based within Student Services you will be responsible for providing confidential, short-term professional support for student counsellors on placement.
  • Contributing to the development of an integrated and accountable service within Student Services and across the Northamptonshire sites, as led by the Student Achievement and Wellbeing Manager.
  • Developing and delivering a support programme for the Counselling student volunteers by monitoring, supporting and assessing their work placement across the Northamptonshire sites in line with the BACP guidelines for trainee placements.
  • Assessing individual learner needs and allocate the appropriate volunteer counsellor to support the learner.

Our ideal candidates will have counselling experience/background post qualification and experience of the application of safeguarding policies and procedures, alongside the following qualifications:

  • Good all round level of education to include Maths and English to GCSE (Grade A – C) or equivalent level (level 2)
  • Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling.
  • Accredited Member of the British Association of Counselling Professionals (BACP)
  • Evidence of recent continuing professional development.

Contract Type – Bedford College Professional Services Ltd (BCPS Ltd) 

18 hours per week (0.37254 FTE) / 36 weeks per year

273 hours holiday per annum, pro rata

An Enhanced DBS check will be required and you will be required to declare any convictions, cautions, reprimands or final warnings, which would not be filtered in line with current guidance.
