Kirklees College is a large successful FE College and an exciting place to work. The College operates across Kirklees with centres based in Huddersfield and Dewsbury. The College was awarded with a Silver quality standard for our Higher Education provision by the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) panel. In addition, in May 2018, the College was awarded the Quality Assurance Agency (QAA) Quality Mark for meeting or exceeding UK expectations for quality and standards.
Our recent Ofsted inspection confirmed that we are ‘good’ and our journey to outstanding is well on the way.
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic, experienced and highly motivated individual to grow and further develop our higher skills and higher education provision. This is a very exciting opportunity to help shape our higher skills provision and widen participation into higher level study for our local communities and under-represented groups.
You will be knowledgeable of higher education policy and processes, including quality assurance measures, student engagement, and continuous professional development in an educational context. You will have experience of identifying opportunities and growing a higher education provision while ensuring quality and the student experience is of the highest standards within a College setting.
You will be responsible for the development of our higher skills and higher education curriculum offer, including higher and degree apprenticeships, in collaboration with Heads of Faculty and the Assistant Principal for Adults and HE. You will be instrumental in identifying potential opportunities for further growth and leading on the planning of provision at both Level 4 and above and skills training programmes. You will work closely with curriculum areas and services from across the College, to ensure that our higher programmes meet the regulatory requirements of the legislative and awarding organisations, while addressing industry and student demand.
The role will also lead on the implementation of curriculum reforms through operational planning and task group co-ordination activity.
The role will involve working closely with academic and business support staff, employers and stakeholders to develop and maintain an innovative higher education offer, which is responsive to our student voice and the needs of the Leeds City Region.
The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work within our new Pioneer Higher Skills Centre dedicated to Higher Education and skills, this includes excellent on site facilities and be part of a highly committed team of staff in an inclusive and high performing environment.
The qualifications deemed essential for the post are a Degree, a Level 5 Teaching Qualification and a minimum of a Level 2 qualification in English and maths (e.g. GCSE English and Maths at grade A*- C or at Level 5 and above). The successful candidate will have experience of managing Higher Education in a Further Education setting with the ability to converse at ease with members of the public and the ability to provide advice in accurate spoken English.
As a learning organisation and as part of our commitment to your continued professional development we may require you to complete an apprenticeship standard or framework that relates to this opportunity.
