Askham Bryan College is a specialist land-based college based across the North of England.

We currently have an exciting opportunity for an Animal Keeper to join our Animal Management Department here at our York campus. This is a part-time role working 14.8 hours per week on a fixed term contract (0.4FTE).  We are looking for a highly motivated individual who can work as part of a team and independently.  They must be responsible, passionate, and knowledgeable about the overall animal management sector and have an enthusiastic approach to animal husbandry and welfare.

The post will require you to work predominantly in the canine and feline facility ensuring that our kennels maintain a 5-star standard but also work with a range of species within the park during the summer months and as and when required.  Your duties will include monitoring and supervising a range of our students throughout their programmes to ensure they become work ready.  

Reporting to the Wildlife Park Manager other responsibilities include the day-to-day care and management of the animal section, general cleaning, feeding, maintenance and record keeping of the animal species.

Whilst applicants should be educated to at least a level 3 in an animal related subject, a degree in a relevant subject would be advantageous.  

Successful applicants will be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
